One of the great things about developing new communities is that the land is transformed from a farm field into a place where people call home. We believe that as developers we are stewards of the land, and that we have a moral obligation to be responsible and prudent in the development process. At NP Dodge we take this responsibility very seriously.
Originally there was a small creek running through Five Fountains. Our vision was to transform the drainage area into a view corridor through the heart of the community that included wild flower meadows, ponds, streams, wet lands, fountains and walking trails. Additionally, we felt that there was a strong desire among home buyers to have a community that was more open than we find in the more conventional neighborhoods here in Omaha. The natural contours of the land are ideal for the type of development we had envisioned for Five Fountains. With the help of Lamp Rynearson and Associates, the design came together quite nicely. About 80% of the lots are walk-out lots that back up to green space.
We are often asked how we come up with the names for new communities. In this case, the name stemmed from a development in Orlando Florida called Four Fountains. In planning, landscaping, and even decorating, using odd numbers for repeating objects is widely seen as more interesting than using even numbers. And since there are literally five fountains, the name was a natural!
Excellent access to the West Dodge Expressway was very attractive to us for this project. The Expressway is the beginning of your trip to almost everywhere. The next stop light is 100 blocks to the east, so your trip is faster and less stressful.
Five Fountains was the site of the 2007 Street of Dreams and is well on its way to being a great community. We are honored to make such great use of such a nice piece of land. Thanks for your interest in Five Fountains! We hope you like it as much as we do!
